Wind Down Event Series Comes to an End
As a new year approaches, the Maryland Theatre is excited to expand our footprint with a 30,000 sq. ft in additional space opening in the fall of 2019. As we look to the future, our leadership has begun to focus on new program and event opportunities. The outdoor courtyard which once hosted events such as Wind Down Friday has been eliminated to replace our grand lobby and box office. The expansion project will result in several new spaces including a ballroom, rehearsal studio, conference room, cocktail lounge, VIP lounge, and concessions area.
For over a decade, Wind Down Friday has served as a successful catalyst for our fundraising efforts as well as community revitalization within the City Center. With the loss of our outdoor space coupled with the competition of similar Wind Down events throughout the four-state region, the event series is no longer a sustainable program for our organization to host. Therefore, the Theatre has decided to end our Wind Down event series.
The Theatre will focus on hosting new Arts & Entertainment programming in our beautiful historic auditorium as well as exciting educational and business events in the new function spaces. Additionally, the Theatre will be exploring opportunities to present or participate with our various partnerships to host outdoor programming that will continue to draw the community and visitors to our City Center.
As we reflect on the past decade of Wind Down, we like to take a moment to thank all the supporters of Wind Down events and the Theatre for your continued partnership. We are excited for the next decade of programming and encourage you to reach out to Theatre leadership or staff with new ideas for future events during this time of growth and prosperity.
